Week #1 reflection

Today's date: May 14th

Entry time: 8:00 pm

All hours: 19H 50M

As our first week of project period comes to a close Romy and I feel that we have accomplished a lot. For the first two days Libby was also assisting us in our preparation, then when she left town Romy and I finished checking things off our list. We bought and packed all of our food for the trip, built our own first aid kit, waterproofed our tent, and planned a whole new route. Each day we dedicated ourselves to a different task and somehow managed to pick up another piece of gear that we needed each day. It wasn't always a blast, but we tried to make each day as productive and entertaining as possible.

Day 1

On our first day Romy and I packed all of our gear into my car and drove over to Libby's house. When there we combined all of our gear and took inventory of what we had and did not. I we also created a meal plan based off of the foods that we had that were light enough touring with us. Then we headed over to the grocery store and picked up the non-perishables that we had decided on bringing.

Day 2

On our second day we met up and headed self for a good dear shopping trip. While there we hit Sierra trading Post, EMS, Whole Foods, and Trader Joe's and we're able to find almost all the things we needed.

Day 3

The third day consisted of testing the necessary equipment that we were planning on bringing. This included Libby's jet boil, my whisper light, and the rain fly to the tent we are bringing. We found out we needed a part for the whisper light and to put a waterproof coating on the right and fly.

Day 4

Fourth day we spent finalizing everything from where to hike to obtaining our final pieces of gear. Lynne helped us create a whole new plan for where we will hike and waterproof everything.

Day 5

For our fifth and final day of the week, Romy and I used our time to start packing and organizing. We spoke to many of our supporters on campus to finish up getting supplies for our first aid kit. Then we spent the rest of the day sorting each meal and measuring out the food we will bring.

Now it is on to the hiking portion of the project.
